Merle G. Pearson, 60
June 27, 1943 - October 21, 2003
 
Merle Gene Pearson was born June 27, 1943, in Blue Earth; the son of Rodney and Mabel (Gesche) Pearson.
 
The youngest of nine children, he attended schools at Frost and Blue Earth. At age 17, he joined the US Navy. On December 12, 1962, he married Barbara Thompson of Frost.
 
In 1987, Merle and Barbra opened Crimson Maple Art Gallery in Blue Earth and worked together until his illness this summer. He was a member of AA for 22 years and a member of the American Legion and Trinity Lutheran Church of Blue Earth.
 
Merle is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara; two sons, Frankie and his two children Shelby and Walker; Robin, his wife Eileen and two children Haley and Emily; brothers: Calir and wife Ruby, Larry and wife Shirley and Vernal and wife Vivian; sisters-in-law Dianne, Marion (Reed), Glennis (Leland) and Roselynn (Mark), his brother-in-law Robert McQuarie (Irene). Also surviving are Barbara's family: Connie and Gary Brekke, Linda Thompson, Greg and Jodell Thompson, Nichael B. Hanson and Terry and Joyce Hanson.
 
Merle is preceeded in death by his parents Mabel and Rodney Pearson, brothers Myron in infancy, Reed, Leland and Mark and a sister Irene McQuarie.
