Adorphus "Duffy" Erdahl
July 27, 1925 - July 21, 2008
Funeral services for Adorphus "Duffy" Erdahl, 82, lifelong Frost area farmer, were held July 25, 2008, at United Lutheran Church of Frost with burial at the Dell Lutheran Cemetery. Duffy died July 21 at his home.
Duffy was a 1944 graduate of Blue Earth High School. He attended the University of Minnesota Agricultural School and the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. He married Barbara Nelson at Bethany Lutheran Church of rural Frost on June 25, 1954. Duffy farmed all of his life until retiring in 1990 and remained active in the farm operation until his death.
He was active in United Lutheran Church of Frost and the United in Faith Lutheran Parish as well as ELCA Conference and Synod activities. He was a member of Toastmasters and numerous agricultural committees. Since 1967 he was involved with the University of Minnesota M>A>S>T> International program and hosted and trained many agricultural students from all over the world.
Duffy was one of the founding members of the United Hands Hospice of Faribault County.
His hobbies included aerobatic flying, photography and discussing philosophy and politics with anyone who would listen. He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and also enjoyed boxing, football and basketball.
Adorphus "Duffy" Erdahl is survived by his wife Barbara Erdahl of rural Blue Earth, his son James (Lisa) Erdahl of rural Blue Earth, his daughter Nancy (Dan) Varberg of St. Paul and his grandchildren, Katie and Kyle Erdahl and Sara, Laura and Clare Varberg. He was preceded in death by his parents.
