Melvin A. Bromeland

Funeral services for Melvin A. Bromeland, 86, of Frost were held September 22, 2008, at United Lutheran Church in Frost with burial at the United Lutheran Cemetery.
Melvin was born November 11, 1921, in Brush Creek Towship, Faribault County, Minnesota, the son of Andrew and Allette (Midtbo) Bromeland. He married Betty Nelson May 28, 1944, at Dell Lutheran Church, rural Frost.
In the late 1940's, Melvin established Bromeland Excavating. Excavating and building projects were his passion which built a successful business that kept him working until 2007.
He was a longtime member of United Lutheran Church in Frost and served on the Frost school board. Later in life he and Betty began to enjoy wintering in the Mesa, Arizona area. Melvin and his sister, Gertrude, fulfilled a lifelong dream, traveling to Norway in 2006. He enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center in Frost and having coffee with friends at the Frost Cafe.
Melvin is survived by his wife Betty Bromeland of Blue Earth, three sons: Jim (Carol) Bromeland of Houston, Minn.,  Bob (Barb) Bromeland and Tom Bromeland, both of Blue Earth; and by one daughter Mary (Bill) Halverson of Frost; a sister Gertrude Mohr of Frost; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Thelma Bromeland of Frost; brother-in-law Wesley (Irene) Nelson of Blue Earth and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arnold and Donald Bromeland.
