Funeral services for Betty Bromeland, 86, of Frost were Bivenber 21, 2008, at United Lutheran Church in Frost with Rev. Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial was in the United Lutheran Cemetery, rural Frost. Betty died November 15 at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.
Betty was born March 27, 1922, in Emeral Township, the daughter of John and Anna (Amundson) Nelson. She was raised and educated in the Emerald Township area and confirmed at the Dell Lutheran Church. She graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1939 and from St. Olaf College in 1943 with a degree in English education. She taught at Bricelyn and Frost for a short time prior to her marriage to Melvin A. Bromeland May 28, 1944, at Dell.
Melvin owned Bromeland Excavating where Betty worked as business manager for many years. They enjoyed traveling and wintering in Arizona. She was a longtime member of United Lutheran Church in Frost where she was active in circle, Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. She was known for her great sense of humor. Betty was devoted to her children, grandchildren and her husband, Melvin, to whom she was married for 64 years.
Betty is survived by sons Jim (Carol) Bromeland of Houston, Minn. and Bob (Barb) Bromeland and Tom Bromeland, all of Blue Earth; daughter Mary (Bill) Halverson of Frost, brother Wesley (Irene) Nelson of Blue Earth; sisters-in-law Gertrude Mohr and Thelma Bromeland, both of Frost.
She is also survived by grandchildren: Carrie (Bob Decheine) Bromeland, Sarah (Chad Rector) Bromeland, Matthew (Helen McClure) Bromeland, Joseph A. Bromeland, Joseph M. Bromeland, William S. (Shawn) Bromeland, Jill (Todd) Christianson, Leah (Dan) Kluender, Ryan Bromeland and Tyler Bromeland, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
