Sophia E. Yost

Funeral services for Sophia E. Yost of Blue Earth, formerly of Frost and Bricelyn, were March 21, at North Blue Earth Lutheran Church. Sophia, 89, died March 13, 2009.
Sophia was born August 20, 1919, in Ogilvie, Minnesota to Henry and Emma (Sternke) Mohr. Her family moved to the Bricelyn area in 1932. She was married to Alvin Brandsoy in 1939 and the couple farmed in the Frost and Bricelyn areas for many years. They had eight children: JoAnn (Eldo) Overbo of Wells, Shirley (Gene) Anderson of Bricelyn, Helen Brandsoy, Earl (Barbara) Brandsoy of Mesa, Mary (Russ) Erichsrud of Blue Earth, Dale (Portia) Brandsoy of Blue Earth, Judith (Gary) Underdahl of Elmore, and Carol (James) Schroeder of Alden. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sisters, Alva (Wilbur) Malwitz, Evelyn Malwitz and Emma Mittlestadt, sister-in-law Gertrude Mohr and brother-in-law Harold Brandsoy. She is also survied by her step-daughter Beverly (ODean) Ranes and five step-grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren.
Following Alvin's death in 1965, she was later married to Arthur G. Yost in 1969. The couple farmed in the Walters area for several years before retiring in the mid 1980s. Art died in 1987. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbandsm a five-year-old daughter, Helen, a step-daughter Phyllis Enser and four brothers: Robert, Clarence, Rudolph and Henry Jr. Mohr; two sisters, Esther Biesterfield, Freda Rosnow.
