SUSAN NELL LINCOLN
May 4, 1948 - September 14, 2009
 
Memorial services for Susan Nell Lincoln, 61, of Toledo, Ohio, formerly of Frost, were Saturday, October 24, at United Lutheran Church. Burial was near her childhood home at United Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Susan died September 14, 2009, at Mercy St. Vincent's Hospital at Toledo on September 14 following a courageous, eight year struggle with cancer.
 
Susan was born May 4, 1948, at Fargo, the daughter of Edwin Herbert and Agnes (Erdahl) Lincoln. She was baptized at Gardner, North Dakota. As a child Susan moved with her family to frost in 1957. She was confirmed at United Lutheran Church and graduated from Frost High School in 1966. She graduated with honors from North Dakota State University in 1971 with  major in foods and nutrition. She received her Master's Degree in nutritional sciences at Eastern Michigan University at Ypsilanti, Michigan.
 
She was employed as a clinical dietitian for more than 30 years at St. Vincent's Medical Center and was a consulting dietitian for Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Toledo area senior centers. She served as an adjunct college instructor in dietetics, mentoring countless dietetic students throughout the years. She was always willing to share her nutrition knowledge with area organizations and church groups. Sue was an active member of the American, Ohio and Toledo Dietetic Associations, serving on many committees throughout her professional career. Her many volunteer contributions included leadership in the Greater Toledo Nutrition Council and particularly Junior League of Toledo, which honored her with an award for her outstanding volunteerism in 2003.
 
Susan enjoyed playing the piano, reading, gourmet cooking, watercolor painting, traveling, birdwatching, and visiting family and friends. Her rhubarb pies were a family favorite.
 
Susan is survived by her mother, Agnes Lincoln of Frost; two brothers and their wives: George (Charlene) Lincoln of Frost and Jim (Jeanne) Lincoln of Cave Creek, Arizona; one nephew, Lee Lincoln of Frost, two nieces: Anne and Georgia Lincoln of Cave Creek, one aunt, Lorraine (Bob) Reeves of Waterloo, Iowa; many cousins, especially Jeanne (Fred) Matthews of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Gerry Ann Howard of Davisburg, Michigan, who were like sisters to her, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Herbert Lincoln in 1999, by one brother, Andrew H. Lincoln, in infancy and by five aunts.
