Funeral services for Forest Johnson, 81, of Frost were held December 22 at Dell Lutheran Church, rural Frost. Forest died December 17, 2010, at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth.
Forest was born October 7, 1929 in Aurora, IL, the son of Charles and Hazel (Johnson) Johnson. He was raised in Helmar, IL and went to high school at Newark, IL. He married Ruby Marlene Evans September 8, 1955, in Plano, IL. Forest loved any farm related work and had delivered fertilizer, feed and LP Gas for many years and also raised hogs. Later he worked with Caterpillar as an assembler and welder for more than 20 years before retiring in 1991.
In 1992 the couple moved to Frost where he became a member of Dell Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing cards at the Frost Senior Center. He was a dedicated family man and was a former member of the American Legion Post in Plano, IL.
Forest is survived by five children: Zane Johnson, Theresa (Allen) Bagg, Sara Kling, Cozette (Wayne) Jones, Gretchen (Rick) Kerry; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Anita Magiera, a daughter-in-law, Sue Johnson, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruby in 2005, brothers, Bud and Stan Johnson, sister, Devonah Webster, sin-in-law, Daniel Kling, and grandson, Ryan David Johnson.
