Funeral services for Wanda E. Kallestad, Blue Earth, formerly of Frost, were July 19, 2012, at Blue Earth with burial at the United Lutheran Cemeetery, Frost. Wanda died Sunday, July 15, 2012.
Wanda was born September 16, 1923, at Frost, the daughter of Oliver and Mabel (Graue) Savick. She was raised in the Frost area, fraduating from Frost High School in 1941. She married Raymond Hanson in 1943 and was later married to Ernest M. Kallestad in 1961.
Wanda was a talented seamstress. She worked at Westerland Interiors for several years where she made window treatments and draperies for private homes and area businesses. She also worked at Armon Decorating producing the same high quality sewing products. She made clothes for all her children and several prom and wedding dresses for friends, neighbors and for those who knew of her sewing abilities. Wanda had a great love for babies and children; she made her children's birthday cakes from scratch, she enjoyed sewing stuffed toys and dolls, she also crafted many decorations from yarn and plastic canvas. Wanda also reupholstered and refinished furniture. She was a longtime member of United Lutheran Church in Frost.
She is survived by her daughter, Carole (Robert) Haugen of Blue Earth; her son, Thomas Hanson & Shelly Williams of Rochester; her son, Mark (Sharron) Hanson of Mountain Lake, her daughter, Gloria Weber of Blue Earth; her daughter, Dawn (Douglas) Willner of Fairmont; her daughter, Kay, (Galen) Lenort of Walters; her daughter, Karen Kallestad of Blue Earth; her daughter, Kelly Blake & Sherman Morgenstern of Albert Lea; her brother, Richard Savick of St. Claire; special nephew, Earl "Buddy" Davidson; 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Raymond Hanson and Ernest Kallestad, two sisters, Della Bakke and Verna "Billie" Sabin, four infant brothers, Otto, Oliver, Milton & Rovert Savick, and son, Gary Lewis Hanson.
