LaVonne died August 14, 2015 at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. She was born December 10, 1921, on a farm in rural Dell, Minnesota, the second child of Alfred and Agnes (Christian) Peterson. She was baptized and confirmed at Dell Lutheran Church and graduated from Augustana Academy in Canton, SD. She graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City, IA and finished her four-year degree at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.
LaVonne met Robert Ralph Volz while serving lunch to his threshing crew on her father's farm at Frost. They were married December 23, 1942.
