PAUL GENE SABIN
Funeral services for former Frost resident, Paul Gene Sabin, 79 of Cannon Falls, were held October 14, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls.
Paul was born October 12, 1935 in Thompson, Iowa to Roger and Judith (Peterson) Sabin. He graduated from high school at Huntley in 1953 and from St. Olaf College in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960, spending most of his time in Germany. After serving in Germany, Paul did construction work in Frost.
He moved to Northfield in 1964 to work at G.T. Sheldahl were he met Kay Schwartz. They were married in 1967 and moved to Cannon Falls in 1971. Paul was very active in the Cannon Falls community where he served on the city council, the hospital board and many roles at his church. He was also very active in Rotary and especially involved in the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. Paul and Kay were a host family for 13 students from 10 countries.
Paul also owned several retail stores in Cannon Falls: Sabin's Appliance, Canon Valley Marine, and Sabin's Gift and Furniture Restoration. He is survived by his wife, Kay, three children Roger (Kris) Sabin, Mark (Cheryl) Sabin, Lynn (Scott) Lunny; and six grandchildren; niece Belinda Klose and nephew Bill (Tarii) Klose; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Judy and Roger Sabin, sister Helen Sabin Klose and brother-in-law Ted Elbracht.
