Mike J. Johnson

Funeral services for Mike J. Johnson, 75, of Blue Earth, formerly of Frost, were held April 2, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Earth. Burial was at United Lutheran Cemetery, Frost.
Mike was born September 8, 1940, to Maynard and Ellen (Ogilvie) Johnson. He graduated from Frost High School in 1958 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1963.
On May 28, 1966, Mike married Virginia Johnson and together they raised their three children: Justine, Leah and Iain.
Mike attended five years of night school, which led to Mike being a plumber and pipe fitter for many years. He enjoyed reading, politics, biking and jogging. Mike was an avid downhill skier and enjoyed bringing his family to the condo in Colorado for more than 40 years. He will be remembered for his patience and teaching the joy of skiing to his family and fiends.
Mike is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Virginia; children: Justine (Neil) Hougen of Blue Earth, Leah (Jeremy) Hawker of Chesapeake, VA and Iain Johnson of Minneapolis, and by five grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Richard Johnson of Parawan, UT and a sister, Rita Johnson of Denver, and by a special aunt, Shirley Monson; sister-in-laws, Sharon (Butch) Erichsrud, Betty (Tom Miller) Trytten, Carol (Mark) Winter; brother-in-law, Robert Johnson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Siefert; brother-in-law, Bruce Trytten; and sister-in-law, Jo Johnson; mother-and father-in-law, Stanley and Gladys Johnson.
