Funeral services for Clara Johanna Holmseth were held March 12, 2018, at South Blue Earth Lutheran Church, rural Bricelyn, with burial at the church cemetery. Clara died March 9, 2018, at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.
Clara was born May 21, 1917, in Rome Township, Faribault County, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry E. and Sophie O. (Fjetland) Henderson. She went to country school and at age 13 began working for other people and staying in their homes for as long as she was needed. Clara married Lawrence Holmseth June 27, 1941, in Duluth. She enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening, making rugs on her loom, rosemalling and upholstering. She especially enjoyed making her Norwegian specialties, lefse and kringla, not only for her family, but also for special occasions. Clara was a very active member of South Blue Earth Lutheran Church for many years.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; son, Laurice (Nylene) Holmseth; son-in-law, Jerry Hougen; brothers, Albert (Charlotte) Henderson and Arnold (Clarice) Henderson; sisters, Genevieve (Irving) Leland and Arlet Smith.
She is survived by her children, Richard (Mavis) Holmseth of Blue Earth, Robert (Idalice) Holmseth of Frost, Jean Hougen of Blue Earth, Charles (Kay) Holmseth of Blue Earth, 19 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
