Funeral services for Lester Harold Egeness, 95, of Frost, were held March 24, 2018, at United Lutheran Church of Frost with the Rev. Arne Halbakken officiating. Lester died March 15, 2018, at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.
 
Lester was born June 6, 1922, to August and Hilda (Berge) Egeness in Rome Township, Faribault County, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm near Frost. He was the youngest of 13 children. He was a star athlete and participated in many sports. He graduated from Frost High School in 1940.

After graduation, Lester attended Gustavus Adolphus College for one semester before returning to help on the family farm. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and fought in the Pacific Theater. On March 18, 1944, Lester married his high school sweetheart, Mavis Elizabeth Dahl.

After Lester returned from the war, the two settled down on a farm near Frost where they farmed and raised their family. Along with farming, Lester drove a school bus for more than 35 years. He retired from farming at the age of 63, but continued to drive the bus for many more years. Lester loved to read, dance with Mavis, or anyone willing to dance with him, gardening, and spending time with his family.
 
Lester is survived by his two children, Carol Arndt of Elizabethtown, PA and Paul Egeness of Frost, and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Mavis; parents; his 12 siblings; and son-in-law, Jeff Arndt.
